Faith Ringgold thinks in pictures and colors. Her quilts tell the stories of her days. In this colorful book, Faith conveys to young readers how quilts tell the stories of our lives.
Cassie's World Quilt, a book about images and stories.
After looking at the images and words in a quilt format, the kids jumped at the opportunity to spot them on the following page. Since we played "I Spy" to find the objects and their corresponding words on the pages, we extended this to a bit of "I Spy" with the quilts in our home.
Max and I read Faith's online story, "How the People Became Colorblind", and answered her questions in the online form. We answered her questions because she wants to know our responses (that includes you, too). Colorblindness does not come from blindness or failure to communicate- it comes from active engagement, mutual respect, and genuine interest in how another person feels.
